Russian Uranium Enrichment Industry State & Prospects of Development 2022

The report provides an overview of the Russian uranium enrichment industry and its development prospects up until 2021. It discusses the current state of the industry, including the tails assay level of 0.110% 235U and the design of the enrichment capacity development program based on a tails assay value of approximately 0.110-0.120% 235U. The report also analyzes cost-effectiveness and investment payback periods for various scenarios related to feed price, tails assay, and enrichment capacity. Furthermore, it examines the operational capacities and development plans for the Isotope Separation Plant (ISP) at the Siberian Chemical Combine (SCC) and the Angarsk Electrolyzing Chemical Complex (AECC), as well as the factors influencing the future shutdown of AECC’s uranium enrichment activities. Finally, it presents the “official” view of the development dynamics of the Russian uranium enrichment industry based on the strategies and plans of SC Rosatom and FC TVEL, along with the projected needs of the global nuclear power industry for uranium enrichment services.
